Habitats!!

If you own guinea pigs, or are about to own guinea pigs, than you need to know the best habitats for them to live in :D The cages at pet stores are normaly too small, way too small, so we want to explain to you what meets the needs of a guinea pigs habitats. So let's get to it!

The first thing you want to know is how big the guinea pig habitat needs to be:

One Guinea Pig needs a minimum of 7.5 square feet.

For two Guinea Pigs the minimum is 7.5 square feet, but we highly suggest 10.5 square feet instead.

Next we're going to talk about the good and bad habitats for guinea pigs, let's start with the bad:

As you can see, both of these cages are much to small for a guinea pig, let alone two! So avoid any guinea pig cage like this, they are a NO NO! Putting guinea pigs in one of these is like putting a human in a closet, it would feel like a trap, you'd have barely enough room to move, and it would be a horrible life style!

Now for the good habitats ^-^

Notice how these are much bigger than shown above, these are the habitats you want to get for your piggies ^-^ There are many ways to even do DIY habitats (two shown above) one of the favored DIY habitats are C&C ones (cheap and easy).

So, PLEASE, make sure that you have a good sized cage for your guinea pigs before you get them!
